The FC-280SA elastomer-sealed mass flow controller accurately and reliably measures and controls gas flows based on mass. It’s thermal differential flow sensor is independent of pressure and temperature changes, unlike volumetric based flow devices that must measure pressure and temperature in order to report a mass flow. It provides fast setpoint response over a wide operating range and remains linear independent of gas type. For applications requiring precise gas flow control, the FC-280SA delivers outstanding versatility and performance.

Accuracy
Tylan General’s thermal differential flow sensor provides highly accurate and repeatable mass measurement of gas flow. Because the sensor measures the mass flow of gas, it is independent of pressure and temperature changes. This ensures that flow are consistent in different systems or locations.

Adjustable to various ranges
The FC-280SA is factory calibrated for a Specific gas and flow range, but can be easily adjusted without any additional parts. Using standard tools, annular bypass is turned until the flow range matches the desired flow range as compared to a flow standard. Once set, the bypass is locked in place. Final calibration is by adjustment of the calibration potentiometers. The FC-280SA can be calibrated for a full scale flow range between 10 sccm N2 and 30 slm N2. The only additional part potentially required for a range change is one of five different valve seats.
Fast setpoint response
The flow sensing circuitry in the FC-280SA   provides response to setpoint changes as fast as 0.5 seconds, which is crucial for short process cycles. The settling time to 2% of set-point is less than two seconds.

Normally-closed valve
The normally-closed solenoid valve used in the FC-280SA can be adjusted to a wide pressure differential operating range providing better “fit” to application  performance. Standard pressure differential range is 15-40 PSID to 30 slm N2 and 3-12 PSID up 4 slm N2.The hex adjusting nut located on top of the valve is easily adjusted in the system if needed.

Resistant to clogging
The streamlined annular design of the FC-280SA bypass allows for a smooth flow path around it. This makes it far less susceptible to particulate build-up and clogging.

Corrosion resistant materials
Materials in the gas path include 316L and  steel and Teflon® with a selection of Viton®, Kalrez® or neoprene seals. These materials permit use of corrosive gases, such as HCI, CI2 and NH3.
